Elle King Celebrates the Release of ‘Love Stuff’ With a Free Show

Elle King released her first full length album Love Stuff on February 17th, after receiving rave reviews from critics and rising to #7 on the iTunes charts it was definitely time to celebrate for the 23 year old. On Saturday, the 21st King and her band took the stage at Rough Trade NYC, Williamsburg’s premier record store/venue for a free album release show. It was an early show, Elle and the boys took the stage a little after 2pm. King was in high spirits, thanking the audience for being there with her to celebrate so early and asking if she was the only one drinking (she wasn’t). Elle then kicked it into high gear, mixing in her older tunes like Playing For Keeps off her self titled EP with high energy songs from Love Stuff like Under The Influence, Where The Devil Don’t Go, Kocaine Karolina, and the single Ex’s and Oh’s. Kings humor and rockstar personality came through with her between-song banter; making the audience laugh along with her jokes about how she thought she was going to miss the show due to being hungover and how she could never get through a show without getting in trouble for saying something a little too risqué. Through all the laughs and ‘tough-girl’ tracks, she let the audience see a softer side when she called her guitarist over to sing an emotional version of See You Again- she sang through the piece while fighting back tears, which made it even more emotionally raw. The afternoon ended with snow falling down on the streets of Brooklyn while King did her signature cover of the Khia hit My Neck, My Back that was made complete by the entire audience singing along. ELLE_KING_LOVE_STUFF_final.v2You can catch Elle King at Hangout Music Festival and Squamish Valley Music Festival this summer, and you can download Love Stuff through iTunes now!
