Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Opens Up Five Performance Slots to Be Filled by Local Fan Favorites

The Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival announced that they are opening up five performance slots at the upcoming festival, taking place March 4 – 6, 2016, to local and regional musical acts with its Destination Okeechobee: Battle of the Bands Competition. The five winners will be joining the likes of music legends Robert Plant, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and headlining Grammy Award winners Mumford & Sons, Kendrick Lamar, and Skrillex among many others.

The Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival has an eclectic lineup of talent ranging from Bassnectar to Future and the Avett Brothers to Miguel, with some of the most sought-after names in between. The festival has also been curated to include Floridas emerging artists from every genre, including Indie Rock, Ska, Punk, Latin, Americana, Electronic, Dance, with the groups such as Hundred Waters, Supervillains, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Spam Allstars, Swimm, Sunbears!, Bedside, Atnarko, Lowcut and Agape performing. Taking place at what is certain to become one of America’s most beloved festival sites, Okeechobee features a sandy beach with live music and swimming, all-night electronic dance parties in a mysterious jungle clearing and a majestic forest Grove surrounded by trees where the main stages will be.

Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Founder and music festival veteran Paul Peck commented, “Our goal with this contest is to support the local communities and our host state. We want to use the festival as a platform for talented young Florida artists to gain exposure and grow their careers. There’s a wealth of young talented artists there right now, and the idea of celebrating some of them alongside the big acts that will be at the festival is really exciting.”

Destination Okeechobee: Battle of the Bands Competition opens today and will close on January 14th. Submissions are welcome from all genres and formats and can be submitted on Sonicbids. https://www.sonicbids.com/find-gigs/okeechobee-music-arts-festival-2016

Fan voting will take place on the Okeechobee Music & Arts Facebook Page beginning January 14th and will end on January 25th.  Bands will need the support of their friends, family and, most importantly, their fans. Each voter is able to cast his or her vote on Okeechobee’s Facebook page daily while the OMF Battle of the Bands Competition is running. The top-voted band selected by the festival will earn a slot at the 2016 Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival.

The additional four performance slots will be up for grabs to the top 32 bands with the most votes in a series of Destination Okeechobee: Battle of the Bands live performances across Florida in independently owned and operated venues such as the Beacham in Orlando, Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville, and the State Theatre in St. Petersburg. A South Florida date and venue will be announced soon.
