Snarky Puppy on Tour, Set to Release Family Dinner Volume Two

The story of Snarky Puppy sounds absurd on the face of it. Everything seems so illogical.

Suppose that someone told you, ten years ago, that a band of excellent musicians would expand to 18 during recording sessions and at least a dozen on tour, record live with a studio audience, release albums on both CD and DVD of the live recording, record with an orchestra, pull down a Grammy, and become one of the premier big bands of our time. Yeah, sure, you’d have said, because the storyline just seems… implausible. Illogical. Absurd.

And 100% accurate. Snarky Puppy fans are legion, rabidly so. Shows sell out wherever they go. Their most recent effort, Sylva, is a collaboration with the Metropole Orkest, and it has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. The group earned a Grammy for Family Dinner Volume One. Volume Two is due for release on February 12th, and David Crosby is one of the featured vocalists. In fact, Snarky Puppy mastermind Michael League will produce Crosby’s next album on the band’s groundUP label.

If you have all nine albums already, perhaps you are ready for: WORLD TOUR 2015 limited edition box set, “32 CDs in custom-made wallets, inside a custom-made, limited edition box PLUS all 16 shows available immediately as high quality downloads.” These 16 shows were selected by League and compatriots as their favorites of the year.

Still need more? There are 34 shows from 2015 available for download on the band’s site in MP3 or FLAC format.

Ready to see them live? Their Irving Plaza New Year’s Eve show is sold out, but there were a few tickets remaining for the January 1st show at the same venue.

Before jumping on Jam Cruise 2016 (January 6th), Snarky Puppy will stop at the Ritz Theatre in Tampa on Monday, January 4th, and Plaza Live in Orlando on the 5th. After falling off the boat, they will hit The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton. From there Snarky Puppy travels to the Tucson Jazz Fest on January 15th. Better get your tickets pronto.

The band will play a very special show March 9th at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, and more U.S. dates will likely follow the May 6th performance at SUNY Potsdam.

The Tampa show, presented by Moongoddess Entertainment and Brokenmold Entertainment, will also feature Serotonic and Banda Magda, with Greek-born singer and accordionist Magda Giannikou; she was a featured vocalist on Family Dinner Volume One. Savi Fernandez hosts the afterparty around the corner at The Crowbar.

Nine select cities will also have very special screenings of the video for Family Dinner Volume Two. From Snarky Puppy:

“Snarky Puppy is finally coming to the big screen in uncompressed 24-bit 48kHz 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound and in a 4K resolution. We’ve hand-picked theaters that have a great vibe and that have been held to the highest technical standards so the recording can be seen and heard exactly as it was intended in the studio. Special appearances from Directors Michael League and Andy LaViolette, surprise guest artists, and other members of the band will be at select locations. Tell your friends!”
