Brilliant Orange Blossom Jamboree Lineup Just Released!
Russ and Toby Bowers have done it again. In fact, it’s so huge, so massive, it will take some time for the depth and breadth of this lineup to sink in.
We’re talking about the lineup for The Orange Blossom Jamboree, that annual celebration of Florida music held at the Sertoma Ranch in Brooksville May 19-22. The only real problem with OBJ is that it needs to be about 12 days long, but nobody would survive. For every band on the lineup, there are two more who could be there. Florida is astoundingly rich in musical talent.
The lineup of more than 60 bands features many familiar names and some new to the fest, ensuring great diversity and lots of joyous music.
Perennial favorites include Come Back Alice, The Applebutter Express, Ajeva, Holey Miss Moley, The Juanjamon Band, Serotonic, Legacy, Savi Fernandez, Row Jomah, Green Sunshine and more.
There are also some truly welcome returnees such as Flat Land, Suenalo, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, Displace, The Groove Orient, Herd of Watts, Endless Flow, Boxcar Hollow, Beebs and her Money Makers, shoeless soul, and Troy Youngblood and the Soulfish.
Be forewarned: last year’s Zombies of the Deep with The Bath Salt Zombies was a mere ripple compared to the tsunami coming your way this year — three times!
And then there are newcomers. This is one heavy, heavy list. Shak Nasti is a brilliant trio from Orlando. Juke is a fine “post-blues” group from Miami. There’s really not any good way to describe Brownote, but DO NOT MISS THEM. thank heavens for Afrobeat courtesy of Bengali 600. And speaking of Bath Salt Zombies, they swear by (not at) Oranga Tanga. Justino & the Difference are blowing it up every time they appear. The Heather Gillis Band will totally knock you out (she just played with Butch Trucks’s Band). The Dunedin Brewery House Band will be “in the house.”
