Great Music on the Beach: Get Ready for Okaloosa Revfest!

If you are searching for the best one-day beach party ever, may we suggest Okaloosa RevFest on Saturday, April 2nd. This jam-filled day is hosted by the Panhandle’s superb jamsters New Earth Army in downtown Fort Walton Beach. New Earth Army is welcoming new “CEO of percussion instrumentation” Breyson Boogie Robinson in addition to Matt, the new occupant of the first saxophone chair.

Destin is extremely well represented at RevFest. The Heritage Band quintet excel in reggae, surf rock and beach music. Continuum is an indie pop quartet, and the Rips are a surfadelic trio: surf rock supreme. The Good Lookings, a great acoustic duo, host the RevFest Welcome Jam!

From out at Mile 0 on I-10 come funksters Post Pluto, and the Okaloosa Sound claim to be from all over the South, playing funk, rock, Caribbean and soul. The Owsley Brothers, from Freeport, deliver the garage blues. And Schatzi + The String Boffin featuring Isaac Eady on drums and Owen Finley on bass (Santa Rosa) play ‘folked-up prog rock.” Try THAT on for size!

Wolf and Witness is a rocking quintet, while fellow Tallahasseeans Sway Jah Vu, as you would suspect, play reggae fusion. Flat Land, the dynamic funking rocksters (or visa versa) who just played Okeechobee, will also be on hand (from Gainesville).

Two great Atlanta exports will likewise be on tap. Funk You does just that with rock and with flair. And Voodoo Visionary also bring the funk with plenty of rock muscle. And that leaves Sarasota’s swamp boogie quartet Come Back Alice, providing the icing on the party cake.
