Check Out These Super Additions to Roosevelt Collier’s Summer Splashdown

No sooner did we post about the deluxe lineup for Roosevelt Collier’s Summer Splashdown (July 29-31) at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park than four more amazing bands and another great DJ were added!

Hosts Vlad the Inhaler, Matthew Connor and Trey Hebron have made a deluxe weekend on the Suwannee River in Live Oak — on the beach and in the Music Hall — even more exciting.

That’s a ton of talent right there. But wait! There’s more!

M:Z:G (MonoZyGotik) just played a thrilling set at Purple Hatter’s Ball. They were joined by Allen Aucoin of the Disco Biscuits for that show. The WeinertsCharles and Zachary — consistently keep the crowd pumping with their great dance music.

There is a great reason while so many people in search of a great “Live Instrumentated Electrofunk Jam Band” know they’ve found what they’re looking for with S.P.O.R.E., Jacksonville’s incredible jamtronic funkmasters. This quartet has been melting faces for years, but recently they have been on a new mission: no prisoners — only funk converts.

Gainesville’s superb quintet Flat Land is in the midst of a huge tour touting their wonderful new album Arrow to the Sun. They play “Ethereal Funk Fusion,” fronted by Fae Nae, remarkable singer and violin player. At festivals such as Okeechobee and Purple Hatter’s Ball and at dozen of shows, Flat Land continually makes new fans… wherever they go.

Listen to Arrow to the Sun here!

Electric Kif (from Miami) may be one of the state’s best-kept secrets. We’ll try to dispel the mystery. They claim to play Experimental music. to our ears, that means awesome fusion funk (do you detect a theme here?) with plenty of jazz piled on top. Their Orange Blossom Jamboree set opened many eyes — and ears!

That takes care of the four bands. The added DJ? Booty Boo (Megan Henderson) first came to our attention at Collier’s February Suwannee Getdown. She was spinning some hot hip-hop on a very cool afternoon, just what the doctor ordered. She makes a great addition to the DJ collection.

Three weeks! Three short weeks until we splash in the Suwannee, chill in the Music Hall, and listen to awesome music all weekend long.
