Camp Barefoot Turns Ten: New Location, Same Awesome Music

Really? This is Camp Barefoot X? Like, Ten? Yes, indeed, it is!

And just take a look at all the glorious music in store for you at Camp Barefoot Music & Arts Festival August 18-20 at its brand new location in Elkins WV! There is a ton of music jammed into three days; better stock up on some caffeine!

Ghostland Observatory plays “all that is electronic and organic,” say Thomas Turner and Aaron Behrens. The New Deal are touring on superb new album Mercury Switch. Their set at AURA blew us away! San Francisco’s ALO will also be on hand for a rockin’ set.

And Keller Williams has two sets, one a solo and a second as Keller Loves Canon. At the other end of the spectrum, there is huge fusion from TAUK and massive amounts of funk from The Nth Power and The Jennifer Hartswick Band featuring Natalie Cressman.

Stay up late? Then you’re going to have all the funk you can handle with Dopapod, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and The Motet. And we’re just getting warmed up!

North Carolina represents with Big Something (twice), coming off another brilliant Big WHAT?, Big Daddy Love, Groove Fetish, Doby, and The Fritz (twice)! And don’t forget The Broadcast, who recently released From the Horizon, featuring their brilliant vocalist Caitlyn Krisko. NC rocks!

If reggae/roots/funk/rock is your thing, you are really in luck! check out Treehouse!, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad (new album Make it Better coming out next month), The Savi Fernandez Band, and Tropidelic. Boston’s Spiritual Rez is a “reggae horn dance party,” and beware Dale and the ZDubs: they promise rock, reggae and birthday suits!

There is plenty of Americana, Appalachian rock, roots, bluegrass and more, courtesy of The Rumple Mountain Boys, Fletcher’s Grove, Jackass Flats, and The Southern Belles. No telling what will happen when Jackass Belles hit the stage! And then there’s That 1 Guy!

On the other hand, if you are planning to go to infinity — and beyond — then you’ll get a boost from ELM (live interstellar psychedelic music), Galaxy Dynamite (psychedelic electro space music), The Fat Catz (space rock), and National Headliner (heavily psychedelic high-octane acoustic/electric). Do you sense a pattern there?

More jam rock fusion from Gnosis. “A little bit of everything” from The Manor and Friends. Indie music from City of the Sun. The Primate Fiasco offers “instruments from the past, music from the future,” including accordion, Sousaphone and lots more.

Ripejive brings you funk, while Delirious George plays “grown foke music.” Moogatu, Something Positive, Sol Flo, and Definition of One will also be on hand.
