Inaugural Suwannee Roots Revival Festival Announces Final Lineup!
The inaugural Suwannee Roots Revival Festival announced the final lineup with additional artists, activities and the official festival poster for us to delight in! The festival is being held October 13-16 at the majestic Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park (SoSMP) in Live Oak, Florida. Joining an already exceptional lineup are Shook Twins, The Honeycutters, Arvid Smith, The Fried Turkeys, Gumbo Limbo Cajun Band, and The Dunehoppers as well as performances by comedian and magician Jeff Bradley, Suwannee Spirit Kids Music Camp and Tania & Magic Moon Traveling Circus.
The lineup includes headliners Leftover Salmon (Fri/Sat), Donna the Buffalo (Fri/Sat), Peter Rowan Band (Fri/Sat), The Wood Brothers (Fri), Jim Lauderdale, Verlon Thompson, Blueground Undergrass and Sam Bush (Sat). Some of the other acts that you won’t want to miss are regional favorites Jon Stickley Trio, Grass is Dead, Nikki Talley, Dread Clampitt, The Applebutter Express, and Grandpa’s Cough Medicine.
Along with four full days of top-notch music and camping, there will be a wide variety of fun activities for you to enjoy. You can sign up for the Permaculture Action Day on Thursday, October 13, which will include hands-on workshops in permaculture, rainwater collection, and assembling recycling stations. Take some time to get your body and mind into festival mode at the Daily Yoga workshops with Rhonda Bell. You can bring your instrument and learn some new licks at one of the Music Performance Workshops with artists including Peter Rowan, Verlon Thompson, Jim Lauderdale, and Jeff Mosier, to name a few. Swing by The Kids’ Tent with your little ones for daily arts and crafts, music and kid-friendly activities. Another great addition to the festival is The Dance Tent Stage located in the meadow. Bring your happy feet and dance along to Contra and Square Dances led by The Dunehoppers. You should definitely plan on a visit to the infamous jam sessions at Slopryland (hosted Sloppy Joe), and The Monroe Shrine (hosted by Quartermoon). You never know who will be there, or when!
The SoSMP is a premier park and campground with 800 acres of stately moss covered trees nestled along the banks of the historic Suwannee River. With ample primitive campsites to choose from as well as RV sites you can always find a great spot to call home for the weekend. The park has just about everything you need on site including a country store for beer, ice, firewood and camp necessities. The SOS Café will be open if you want to sit down for a meal. They also have canoe rentals if you want to get some paddle time in while you are there.
