New Vulfpeck Album “The Beautiful Game” Released – And It’s Fun!

This year’s festival darlings were undoubtedly the dudes in Vulfpeck. They hit the circuit hard, hitting everywhere from Fool’s Paradise in Florida this past spring continuing all the way through the summer at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Lockn’, and North Coast. And in true Vulf fashion, they brought the party everywhere they went. It seems that few people have as much fun playing as Vulfpeck does!

As festival season closes out for many of us, Vulfpeck (Jack Stratton, Theo Katzman, Woody Goss, and Joe Dart) has given us a brand new studio album to hold us over. The Beautiful Game really is just that. It takes you on a funky, fun journey, mixing the band’s signature heavy bass lines (Joe Dart for president, anyone?) with a fusion of funk, jazz, pop and seemingly never-ending jams.

One of the great things about listening and seeing Vulfpeck is just letting them be Vulfpeck. They don’t quite fit into one genre well enough to classify their sound one way or another, and that’s one of the things you really get with this new album. It’s funk. It’s jazz. It’s comedy. It’s sing-a-long pop. There are horns. There’s clarinet. There are upbeat piano numbers. There’s everything that is wonderful and good about music all wrapped up into one pretty little package. It makes you want to get up and dance. And their constant collaborations can be found here as well. Favorite friends as usual include Antwaun Stanley, Joey Dosik and Christine Hucal, as well as new numbers with the likes of Laura Mace, Bethanni Grecynski, Jamire Williams, Michael Winograd, Pegasus Warning, Adam Levy and Rich Hinman. Wowza.

Just do yourself a favor and check this one out. And give yourself lots of room to dance around. Perhaps a soccer field, as Jack Stratton did in their Facebook Live debut of the album.

Viva la Vulfpeck!
