Firefly Music Festival is Asking for Fans Input on Just About Everything!

Red Frog Events has announced some groundbreaking changes to occur during the planning of this summer’s Firefly Music Festival. Firefly is all about fan input. Since early November, fans have been voting on 2016’s best performance until the contest was narrowed down to just two: Florence + The Machine vs. Blink 182. Just last week Florence was announced as the winner of the first-ever Firefly Performance Throwdown.

The Performance Throwdown is just one example of Firefly’s efforts to keep fans closely involved. Red Frog Events have decided to take it several steps further in 2017 and create the first fan-curated music festival. The Firefly Team always asks for attendee opinions and does their best to book acts that fans ask for. But now, fans will get to be a part of all decisions made as the entire Firefly 2017 experience comes together.

In the coming months, the team plans to roll out surveys that will ask for fan participation in every aspect of the festival from artists to camping to activities and attractions. The festival wants to know what has worked in the past, what hasn’t and what people would like to see introduced this year. As Red Frog Events’ Creative Programming Director Christiane Pheil explained, “These are the people we’re building this event for; they should have a say in what it becomes.” What a concept!

Some of the exciting options that we will get a chance to vote on include merchandise, décor of the pathway that connects the festival grounds, food options and bar themes. How does a ping-pong bar sound? Or, maybe you prefer to sip your adult beverages while listening to dueling pianos? Whatever your style is, if you’re planning a trip to Firefly this year (and you should be!), click here to get your voting on.

Festival attendees are a pretty vocal group of people. Firefly’s new experiment is sure to gain attention and create waves throughout the festival scene. Keep checking in with Firefly as they continue to post surveys between now and the big weekend. We can expect the lineup to drop in early 2017. Firefly is happening June 15-18th in Dover, DE!
