Lady Gaga’s ‘Little Monsters’ Delighted with Super Bowl Halftime Show
That All American event, The Superbowl, is anticipated all year, whether your team made it there or not, whether you are really into the game, or, if you’re anything like some of us, you watch for the commercials and the halftime performance.
Now, I usually am pretty impressed with the halftime show every year, giving all artists their credit, being open-minded to whatever the performance brings to television that year. This year, Lady Gaga took on a full thirteen-minute, live singing, non-stop dancing performance, which even included her descending from the rooftop of the Houston Stadium and ending with the ever so powerful mic drop to conclude. I was absolutely mindblown, having to get up and pace a little bit afterwards because I began to sweat; I was that blown away. She had such full energy and raw talent the entire time, not to mention those legs, I mean, am I right?
Pure talent… that is all I could say the entire time. Not once did she lose a note or miss a step. Going into it, Gaga made the announcement on social media outlets that she would not have the typical “guest performer” that they usually feature every year. This performance was her time to shine on her own and for her to prove how powerful she is, not only as a performer but as a woman. She started off with an appropriate ode to our country, descended, and then proceeded to absolutely rock the NRG Stadium. That first song, Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land,” is an appeal to the broadest spectrum of America. Although she sang only the first stanza, the reference was clear — and perfect. Who can argue with “This land is your land, this land is my land?” Also, in the current environment, it was great to hear her include “Born This Way.”
Lady Gaga is truly an inspiring performer, actress, advocate and woman. She will forever have that jaw-dropping effect on the world, whether you are a fan or not. Show credit where credit is owed. #Queen
