Ethos Brings Their Diverse Sound to Brooklyn!
I’ll just admit it. Typically, the only choice I want to make on a Wednesday night in the bitter New York wintertime is between my couch and my bed. But that was certainly not the case on the evening of February 22. New York up-and-comers Ethos gave me just the mid-week dose of vitality that I didn’t know I needed.
The Paper Box sits on a quiescent, industrial street in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. You can easily pass right by it if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Like many of the hippest Brooklyn venues, the inconspicuous outside gives little indication of the quirky-cool atmosphere just beyond the front doors. Wednesday night, Ethos took the stage at The Paper Box and filled the room with a palpable energy that refuses to be ignored.
The five-piece band shares an undeniable chemistry. From the moment they took the stage, each musician fed off of the next, creating a vigorous circuitry that could not be overlooked.
Ethos’ sound is distinct and unique. Powerful alternative rock balances with hip hop, resulting in euphoniously diverse music. Their ability to transition smoothly between howling vocals and spirited rapping demonstrates how in tune the band is with one another. Heavy guitar, insistent drums and rhythmic bass complete the multifarious package.
Instead of competing for attention, the array of sounds that Ethos brought to the stage on Wednesday night worked together, simultaneously humbling and invigorating one another. Their commanding presence and positive message leave nothing to be desired. I’ll give you a piece of advice… whether it’s a cold Wednesday or a sunny Saturday, don’t miss out on Ethos live!
