Decisions, Decisions! Gasparilla Music Festival Schedule is Here!

Take time to check out the schedule for the Gasparilla Music Festival this Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12, before you head to downtown Tampa for two great days of music. With four main stages (and two other locations for several performances), you can orient yourself; we’ve included the map of the park as well.

As always, there are bands and artists you just know you have to see, some others you might want to check out, and a bunch you’ve never seen before. Please make sure to check out some of those in that last category; that is one of the most exciting aspects of any festival.

In fact, we just posted an article about one of those spectacular bands playing Saturday evening: Los Amigos Invisibles. Read more about them here.

SATURDAY

After Ride the Park at 9:30, the first thing on the schedule is yoga at 11 with Dubb Tenn and Badda Skat, and you can use your yoga mat later to sit or lie down on! A dance party follows that at noon, and then you have to make some choices.

Do notice the children’s performers on several different stages early in the day, including Bears and Lions, Sugar Rush and the Patel Conservatory Vocal Arts Chorale. Children under 12 receive free admission, and their is an interactive kids’ zone from noon to 2 both days.

Sykes Stage is the main stage, and it will be loaded all day, from the opening harmonies of the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir and Americana roots from Have Gun, Will Travel to the final sets from Moon Taxi, the aforementioned Los Amigos Invisibles, and Cage the Elephant.

The Channelside Bay Plaza Stage is similarly loaded, including the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Michal Menert & the Pretty Fantastics, and Ghostface Killah.

The Ferman Amphitheater Stage will see the likes of Ari Chi, QueenofEx, and rogerthomas, and the Shea Barclay Stage at Tibbetts’ Corner hosts Parrotfish, the Sh-Booms, Bangarang and more. And there is a silent disco at 6 at Kiley Riverview. If you’ve never been to a silent disco, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Very cool! (And, no, it doesn’t have to be disco!)

SUNDAY

The Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra gets to open the Sykes Stage at noon, and the schedule is very busy after that, including funkmeisters Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Chronixx & the ZincFence Redemption, and Ryan Adams.

Superb swamp funkers Come Back Alice hit the Channelside Bay Plaza Stage first at 12:45. Kelsey Waldon is next, followed by two incredible talents. Young guitar slinger Marcus King and band will blow you away, and The New Mastersounds are in a class all their own playing ’60s and ’70s funky jazz and so much more.

Over at the Ferman Amphitheater Stage, the Little Kids Rock Band will delight at 12:15. Phoebe Bridgers and Jinx also perform, and don’t miss Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, some of the best bluegrass players (with a few weird twists!) on the planet (4:45).

As a further perk for Sunday, the Glazer Children’s Museum is providing free admission on Sunday, and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will perform there at 2:15. At Shea Barclay Stage at Tibbetts’ Corner, inkblot and Veiny Hands are among the performers you’ll hear.

We strongly suggest walking or running shoes, because you’ll be doing a LOT of that! MusicFestNews will see you this weekend!
