DO. NOT. MISS. NAUGHTY. PROFESSOR. For Real. (Again)

Some of NOLA’s brightest young proponents, in the form of Naughty Professor, are taking Crescent City jazz and future funk up and down the East Coast, starting with Florida, working their way up to New England before heading back south for home.

Naughty Professor are: Bill Daniel, guitar; Noah Young, bass; Sam Shahin, drums; Nick Ellman, alto & baritone saxophones; Ian Bowman, tenor saxophone; and John Culbreth, trumpet. The band has an EP and three albums to their credit, including 2015’s Out on a Limb and last year’s live release In the Flesh. You can read our review of Out on a Limb here.

When I attempted a description a while ago, it came out like this:

“Naughty Professor is a New Orleans-based sextet of young musicians in the present respecting the jazz traditions of the past while playing the music of the future.”
