Joe Marcinek Band Slinks into California – Again

C’mon now. Who in his right mind puts together 20 or 30 different bands every year to play all over the United States?

The answer would be guitar play and vocalist Joe Marcinek, although you might argue about the ‘right mind’ thing. He has California in his sights this time with three shows, starting tonight in Santa Cruz.

Thursday, May 11 | Moe’s Alley | Santa Cruz
Friday, May 12 | Crazy Horse Saloon & Grill | Nevada City
Saturday, May 13 | Boom Boom Room | San Francisco

So whom does Joe have roped in this time?

Joey Porter will be there on all manner of keyboards. Porter, who plays with The Motet and has put together his own ensembles (Vital Organ and Shady Business, and then there’s Juno What?), plays keyboards on Marcinek’s superb new album Slink, and he produced it. Read our review here.

The rhythm section is just ridiculous: those Dumpstaphunk gents Tony Hall on bass and Alvin Ford, Jr. on drums. Hall also performs with the Tony Hall Band; Ford has also played with Pretty Lights. This is an insane lineup, but, as LaVar Burton used to say, “You don’t have to take my word for it.”

Check ’em out live, and enjoy this monster show of Marcinek’s on bandcamp.
