Sgt. Pepper’s Iconic 50-Year-Old Album Cover – and Its Best Parody

Turning 50 is quite a milestone, and this 50-year-old still sounds great — and looks great.

So great, in fact, that many others have copied the album cover’s style. Nobody did it better than Frank Zappa. The cover to We’re Only in It for the Money was folded “inside out,” but it was easy enough to flip it around. The Mothers of Invention released WOIIFTM in 1968, a year after The Beatles‘ milestone album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

These were on the inside of the gatefold rather than the outside.
