Cinematic Jazz Fusion Outfit JOOSE Announces New EP, Shows at Hulaween & Hometeam

JOOSE exploded onto the Florida music scene last summer prominently at Great Outdoors Jam 2016 and at a special show that August covering Herbie Hancock’s Thrust. When they re-emerged at Orange Blossom Jamboree this past May, they unveiled the first three movements of a planned five-part opus. The opus was more fully formed at a show in Dunedin and then blossomed at Great Outdoors Jam three weeks ago.

JOOSE is a collaboration among six extremely talented individuals who play in a variety of bands. Justino Lee Walker (guitar) also leads his group Justino and the Difference. Mark Mayea (keyboards) and Taylor Gilchrist (bass) play with Ajeva and with Come Back Alice. Yral ‘datdudeondrums’ Morris and Jimmy Rector (percussion) also play with Come Back Alice. There are too many bands to list for reeds and flute master Christian Ryan, but just a few include Holey Miss Moley, Leisure Chief, and Bengali 600. And all six of them regularly sit in or fill in with numerous other Florida bands.

Below is their recent press release:

JOOSE (pr. /jo͞os/ or “juice”), the Cinematic Jazz Fusion sextet from St. Petersburg, Florida, just announced two special live appearances: at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, raising money for Hurricane Irma Relief for the Live Oak Area, and the other performance planned for the Hometeam New Year’s Rally, ringing in the new year at the only four-day music festival with camping on New Year’s Weekend.

The band is at work on their highly anticipated debut full-length concept album. JOOSE plans to release three unique tracks from the upcoming 18-track album in the form of an EP entitled NOT FROM CONCENTRATE. The concept album is based around the cycle of life and what the band perceives of its five stages: Birth, Adolescence, Childhood, Adulthood, and Death. The three songs were chosen for textures, characteristics and progressions to help prepare the listener for what is to come with the full-length album.
