Sh-K-Boom Records To Release “The Last Five Years” Soundtrack In February 2015
Sh-K-Boom Records has announced that it will be releasing the original motion picture soundtrack to “The Last Five Years” online and in stores on February 10, 2015. The film will premiere in theaters and video on demand on February 13, 2015.
This is not the first time that Sh-K-Boom Records has released the soundtrack to “The Last Five Years.” The original cast recording from the Off Broadway musical was released by the label in 2002, and the upcoming movie soundtrack holds meaning for Sh-K-Boom because of that. Producer and president of Sh-K-Boom Records Kurt Deutsch stated: ”Releasing this record is like coming full circle for our label. The first cast album we ever released was the original Off Broadway recording of ‘The Last Five Years,’ so this material has been very close to our hearts and souls, and it makes perfect sense that it would be the first film we ever produced. We are incredibly fortunate to have these amazing artists be a part of this project. It’s a dream come true.”
2015’s film adaptation stars Anna Kendrick (Into The Woods, Pitch Perfect) and Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) and is directed by Richard LaGravenese (The Fisher King) with music by Jason Robert Brown (the original musical’s writer). Kendrick and Jordan star as Cathy Hyatt and Jamie Wellerstein, two lovers who chart the course of their five year relationship in reverse chronological order via song.
