Governors Ball 2015 Looks Like The Best One Yet

Governors Ball has come a long way since its inception in 2011, when the festival took place on Governors Island (hence the name) and had a whopping ten act lineup. Now, it is known as one of the premier festivals in the country and has even been dubbed as ‘the east coast Coachella‘ by some, and 2015 will do nothing but reinforce that reputation.

The fifth installment of Governors Ball will grace Randall’s Island Park for it’s fourth year. This is the most premier location for a weekend-long festival in NYC, secluded in the middle of the East River away from city streets but still surrounded by the iconic skyline. The location not only offers amazing views, but most importantly a sprawling area that can accomodate a festival of this size comfortably. Governors Ball has also made getting to the festival easier than ever; offering ferry service from Manhattan and shuttle busses from Brooklyn (for an additional cost), the festival is also very easily accesible by MTA bus and by walking over the RFK Bridge.

This festival isn’t just exciting because it takes place in one of the greatest cities in the world, they have created an amazing lineup for 2015 that satisfies tastes of all genres. Some of this years most notable acts include The Black Keys, Deadmau5, Lana Del Ray (who rarely ever graces New York with her presence), Florence + The Machine, The Decemberists, RATATAT, Weird Al Yankovic, Conor Oberst, Big Gigantic and Vance Joy. There’s a lot of music to see during the weekend, but also a lot to do! Governors Ball offers lawn games, amazing food from local NYC resturants, craft beer and art instilations all around the festival for the entire weekend.

So what are you waiting for? The festival is taking place June 5-7 and tickets are available here! Check out the full lineup:
