Mumford and Sons Announce Third Album “Wilder Mind” + Tour Stops

Bonnaroo headliners Mumford and Sons are back after a two and a half year hiatus, putting an end to speculation and rumors that the British folk rockers have called it quits. Due out May 4, Wilder Mind sees a departure from the traditionally folksy sounds on Sigh No More and Babel, with synthesizers, electric guitars, and mellotrons filling in for the fiddles and banjos that fans have come to expect from the band’s catalogue.

Marcus Mumford, the band’s lead singer and after whom the band took its name, was quoted in Rolling Stone regarding the banjo-less tracks as stating “We’ve got a broader taste in music than just that.” Bassist Ted Dwane concurred, expanding on Mumford’s statement by clarifying that “None of us had really any interest in doing a sort of Babel 2. It was always going to be different.” While fans have come to expect the band to always present themselves as the British version of Americana folk acts like the Avett Brothers, the new direction they are taking in the world of rock is sure to be a hit.

The album’s first single, entitled “Believe,” will be released on April 27th. The full tracklist and album artwork may be viewed below:
