Get a head start on Summer Solstice 2015

The summer solstice has a way of sneaking up on you. It already feels like summer, but its official start is Sunday at 12:39 PM EDT. There’s no reason, however, not to get a head start with Summer Solstice Music and Arts Celebration at the Bamboo Arts Celebration Center in DeLeon Springs on Saturday (June 20th). And a celebration, festival organizers, is exactly what it is:

“An expression of every aspect of an artistic vision through performing live music, DJing, spoken-poetry, illustration of one’s minds on canvas or any visual representations, fluidity through the dance of flow arts, culinary endeavors, and the expansiveness of one’s higher consciousness through the connection of the Solstice.”

The day is filled with activities… and music! There are great bands and rocking DJs to keep you dancing in celebration.

Holey Miss Moley, the funky / jazzy rockers, bring their soul-soaked music to the stage. Legacy is one of Florida’s premier loopers and will have you convinced there’s an entire band hiding on stage somewhere. And the Happy Campers are exactly that — happy to bring their great sounds to your earhole!

The Psychedelic Monks from New Smyrna also fit perfectly into the funk-rock-jam pocket. And it’s difficult to describe Dem Little Econ Boyz; there is a base trio, but then people magically seem to appear on stage: anybody who can “pick, thump, pluck, toot or sing.” Pretty wide net right there!

Special guests Flat Land, the superb quintet from Gainesville, will also grace the stage, violin and all. And what would a solstice celebration be without a few zombies? Bath Salt Zombies, that is, bringing you their outrageous and entertaining show! This promises to be a very special day. Most of these bands are also gearing up for the blowout Great Outdoors Jam Fourth of July weekend, but you can expect musical fireworks to welcome the solstice!

Some dynamite DJs will be on hand to entertain you and keep you on your feet at the Silent Disco. Check out this line-up:SamsunRising, Andrez, DJ Pand@monium, Mario Rosenthal, Divine and special guests. Breakbeats, house, disco, EDM, “mindfunk,” “whatever i want:” that’s what’s on the menu! Come hungry for music!

A special Native American Solstice Ceremony will be held by Victor Bigger during the event, and everyone is welcome to join.

This is an Eco friendly environment. There will be trash bags available at the gate and recycling is heavily encouraged. Please leave only footprints and memories behind.

And be sure to check out the workshops (Poi, Hooping, Props, Live Art , Wire wrapping, Gemstone Polishing, and Arts and Crafts) and vendors and great food and beverages as well. NOBODY rocks the Summer Solstice like they do at the Bamboo Arts Celebration Center!
