Galactic Returns to Tipitina’s for Mardi Gras Season!

In a couple of months from now, the streets of New Orleans will be pulsing with costumed and beaded crowds, extravagant parades, mass over-consumption of food and alcohol and, most importantly, a ton of live music. Carnival festivities last about two weeks, concluding with the biggest celebration of them all, Mardi Gras.

Carnival simply could not be complete without an appearance or two from New Orleans’ own funk geniuses, Galactic. For over 20 years, the band has been bringing the soul and spirit of the city to the rest of the country and beyond, always returning to their hometown for the biggest party of the year.

Galactic will play two nights at the legendary Tipitina’s on Saturday, February 25 and Monday, February 27, a.k.a. Lundi Gras. Tipitina’s is among the best of the best when it comes to seeing a live show in The Big Easy. The famous venue began as a neighborhood haunt in the ’70s and has hosted some of the greatest funk and jazz performers from local acts to legendary greats. Galactic is no stranger to the historical venue and recorded their first live album We Love ‘Em Tonight: Live at Tipitina’s while performing there in 2001.

Galactic released their most recent album Into the Deep in the summer of 2015 and have been busy on the road nearly ever since. We were lucky to catch one of their packed-out, high-energy shows at Brooklyn Bowl this past summer. A live Galactic performance embodies everything magical about Mardi Gras and the city of New Orleans: Spirit, color, dance and celebration.

There’s no better place to be during Carnival season than New Orleans and no better band to celebrate with than Galactic! Get your tickets, and check out all of the band’s tour dates here.
