Plenty to explore and beautiful sights for Okeechobee Day 1

The doors officially opened up around noon yesterday, Thursday, March 2nd, and the hectic first crazy hours began. The first day is wild between the hours of driving into the festival grounds, setting up the campsite, and socializing with your neighbors. As soon as you’ve set up shop and are proud of the little home you made for the next couple days, it’s time to explore. The highly recommended arriving on the first day to Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival was very well organized and shows how much more impressive the festival is growing to be in its second year.

As all the portals opened up, people were lucky enough to come in through security in less than an hour. The efficiency of the opening has been running smoothly. If you were lucky enough to be set up in time, the opening ceremony of the festival lit up the ChobeeWobee Village with performers and dancers that interacted with the art and scenery of what the village is all about. This made way for a successful and enchanting first day that excited the over 30,000 festival goers for how this whole festival will turn out.

The days are going to be slightly overcast with the sun peaking out to give us warmth and very little chance of rain. The weather is going to be on our side all weekend, and, by the looks of it, we will be having great chilly weather to take advantage of the late-night sets all around the festival grounds. If you plan to stay up and enjoy the night, look forward to dozens of acts that are meant to be wandered into and appreciated because of how varied the lineup. From personal experience, conversations about the English folk artist Beans on Toast over at the campground reminded us about the first set the performer had this weekend. Walking into the Tea Lounge last night, the mystical vibe of the stage and its sofas and hammocks made it a very cozy place to kick back. The folk performance had the crowd’s full attention, shouting out classics from his eight feature-length albums. If you want a glimpse of this hilarious and poetic performance, please take the opportunity in the two other performances he will have this weekend over at the Tea Lounge late hours. Showtimes will be made available at the bottom.

Later in the night, talks about a secret set at Incendia was going down. Many of the rumors around the festival were that it would be GRiZ, and other rumors were about Flume being the secret set. As far as everyone’s rumors, the GRiZ set was planned, but last minute he wasn’t able to make it, so Galactic Effect took over. Galactic Effect’s sound was perfect for the Incendia stage, and although fans were not able to catch GRiZ, the crowd was really feeling some never-before-heard tracks from the Miami native. If you hear of events that are going on, chances are they will happen. Plenty of events will be going on, planned and unplanned; so get ready to wander.

Wherever you end up, it is a schedule and lay-out perfect to get lost in and explore all the acts and activities. Along the way, you will meet some of the coolest people ever, so get ready to meet people all weekend long that share your similar taste.

Beans on Toast will be performing at the Tea Lounge on Saturday at 3:00-4:30 and again Sunday from 4:30-6:00.
