Fool’s Paradise Late-Night After-Parties – After-Hours Funk

Fool’s Paradise has one of the best venues at the perfect time of year for a Florida Festival. St. Augustine Amphitheater is a beautiful, intimate outdoor venue with a capacity of about 4000. The venue is surrounded by Anastasia State Park, a 1,600-acre state park that includes camping, four miles of beaches, and walking trails.

After the music ends at the Amphitheater, the night doesn’t stop, though. Friday and Saturday night both will feature after-parties across the street at the Elk’s Lodge.

Friday Night After-Party

Friday night will kick off the fun with Infinity Jam. This will feature Eric Krasno, Oteil Burbridge and more. While it’s hard to say what exactly this is going to be, one thing is certain: that it will be a good time. Looking to the past, Krasno and Burbridge are no strangers to improv and jams. Last year the two teamed up with Marco Benevento for a set at Peach Music Fest. That set featured long-form jams that focused heavily on ’70s jazz fusion. This month JRAD and Oteil are playing six nights at Brooklyn Bowl.

Next up will be the Eric Krasno Band. Krasno has a proven record from playing with Lettuce, Phil Lesh, Derek Trucks, Soulive and more as well as his own band. Krasno’s guitar playing is among the most passionate anyone could ever ask for. His entire band brings that same spirit to their sets and will be sure to get everyone up and dancing.

Jaw Gems
Finishing the night will be Portland-based Jaw Gems. That’s Portland, Maine, not Portland, Oregon. This four-piece group has released four albums so far, including the most recent Heatwaver, which was released in 2016. Favorably compared to STS9 and Lotus, they have been building a name for themselves by bringing chill, psychedelic jams to clubs and festivals. They just played a series of dates with Lettuce.

Saturday Night After-Party

Saturday opens with Dumpstaphunk, New Orleans’ primary ambassadors of funk and jam. The five-piece masters are led by Ian and Ivan Neville along with Tony Hall, Nick Daniels and Alvin Ford, Jr. They are currently touring heavily and will be leaving from Fool’s Paradise to go anchor shows in their hometown of New Orleans for Jazz Fest. To say that they bring the funk everywhere they go is an understatement.

Following the Dumpstaphunk set will be another superjam billed as Fools For Funk. This will feature members of Lettuce, Dumpstaphunk and more. This is another set that will have to remain a mystery until Saturday night. However, if history is any indication, we can likely expect to see several other superstars joining in and for this entire set to be one giant melt-your-face rager of epic proportions. This is likely going to be the kind of set that gets talked about for a long, long time by both the audience and the musicians.

Tickets for the After-Parties must be purchased separately from the festival tickets. Make sure to grab them today so you don’t get left out!
