Moontower Music Festival Returns Better Than Ever

Moontower Music Festival, the Lexington, Kentucky, day-long celebration of music, food and art is back for its fourth year and promises to be better than ever. This year the event will be on August 26th and will remain at Masterson Station as it has for the previous three years.

Last year saw acts such as Trombone Shorty, The Floozies, Drive-By Truckers and more, cementing the single-day festival as a great way to see festival favorites in several different genres at a smaller, more family-friendly event.

This year they will continue to prove themselves with a Phase 1 lineup that includes festival favorite J.J. Grey and Mofro along with Cherub, Todd Snider & Great American Taxi, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, and Tyler Childers as well as Vita & The Woolf. There will be a total of 14 acts across two stages. More bands will be announced over the coming months.

Moontower has worked hard over the past year to make this fourth year even better than previous events while dropping regular-priced admission to $39.00. Tickets are available at www.moontowermusicfestival.com/

VIP tickets this year will be $75 and include valet parking, a VIP entrance, a cooled tent and lounge area, a private bar, VIP area at both stages, private air-conditioned bathrooms and a swag bag. Valet Parking is an unusual VIP ticket perk which alone may well be one of the better reasons to go VIP.

Another unique feature of this event is that it is both dog-friendly and kid-friendly. Dogs are allowed on leashes as long as they remain well-behaved. The festival even provides a dog area with a dog pool and water on site. Attendees are reminded to be aware of the temperature and not let their dogs get overheated. While the festival does not allow reentry, attendees can arrange for their dogs to be picked up during the day so that they can continue to enjoy the fest well into the night. Children under 12 are free with an adult ticket purchase, which is a great bonus that again is not that common at festivals.

This year Moontower is partnering with Old Forester Bourbon, who will be providing signature cocktails and bourbon slushies.

Rounding out the food and beverage upgrades this year will be a partnership with two local craft beer vendors: W 6th and Rhinegeist, with a large, lighted beer tent and adjacent beer gardens.  Beer is being provided in ice-cold cans with numerous checkout lines to ensure fast service and short lines, and there are more food vendors with over 14 food trucks on site including healthy and vegetarian options, a shaded and lighted eating area with tables and chairs, a free pop-up art museum on site curated by Stuart Horodner, Director of the U.K. Art Museum, and designated standing, sitting and tent areas for viewing both stages.

“We are thrilled about this year’s lineup and proud to continue building on the success of MoonTower thus far,” says LexEffect founder Kaelyn Query. “We take our role in the community seriously and strive to create an event that has something for everyone; while the event only lasts for a day, our hope is the enthusiasm created carries over for years to come”
