Gasparilla Music Fest 2017 The Marcus King Band

Black Mountain NC is your destination for great weekend of music from the young guitar-slinger and lots of his friends. Check out this sweet schedule:

FRIDAY

Country and Americana artist Alex Williams gets the party started at 5:15, and IT IS ON! Music alternates between the Tap Room Stage and the Pisgah Outdoor Stage. BIG Something really ups the ante next with their incredibly funk rock from Mebane. Inside, there will be an AMP Music Panel. Host Marcus King and band are up next, followed by Brooklyn rockers The National Reserve.

Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band

As if things weren’t already lit enough, Blackberry Smoke brings their Southern rock and country from the ATL to fan the flames. So how do you shut down Day One? Invite Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band to torch the place. Jaimoe is a Wanee mainstay and, of course, an original member of the Allman Brothers Band; King played his first Wanee this year (and it won’t be the last!). Jaimoe’s band plays jazz, blues and rock in equal measures with frontman Junior Mack and keyboard wizard Bruce Katz heading up the band.

SATURDAY

Asheville’s Travers Brothership reignites the fun at 1 PM with their soulful rock and country, followed by Leah Blevis, a Kentucky country crooner. Speaking of a man who needs no introduction, how about George Porter, Jr., and Runnin’ Partners? Now that’s NOLA! There will be a second AMP music panel as well.

More NOLA? OK. The Revivalists’ frontman, David Shaw, will perform a solo acoustic show that promises to be very special. Then the blues explodes with PBR — that’s People’s Blues of Richmond. Next will be a real treat as Muddy Magnolias — Kallie North and Jessy Wilson — bring their fresh take on alt-soul from Nashville.

The most in-demand tenor sax in the business, Ron Holloway, presents his band next. Then it’s time for the The Marcus King Band & Family. Hope the stage is big enough! And That’s What’s Up puts a lid on it in the Tap Room to close down a glorious weekend.

Wait! Did we mention the Artist at Large for the weekend? He is a giant in musical stature — Brandon “Taz” Niederauer!

Maybe you’ve missed your family reunion. You shouldn’t miss Marcus King’s!
