Night One of Joe Marcinek, George Porter, Jr., Wil Blades and Alan Evans

We were remiss in getting out an article about Joe Marcinek’s latest supergroup, and we DO mean super. Every band he concocts is excellent, but this one is ridiculous: George Porter, Jr., bass and vocals; Wil Blades, keyboards; and Alan Evans, drums. Tonight they blow up the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco, and Saturday they ring up the Crystal Bay Casino in Crystal Bay NV.

Here’s what Marcinek had to say about last night’s show in :

Well last night was nothing short of incredible. Really makes you feel like you’re on the right path when one of the legends says “we listened really good and played off each other other like we had done it again and again. That was great!”

Tonight at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco! Late night after the New Mastersounds!!!

Please help spread the word!

*Wil Blades was there too! And crushed it!!

But leave it to the funk master Porter to provide the full review:

OK’ so tonight was the first of three gig’s with The Joe Marcinek Band, O’ did I also say that we have never been a band before. With all that and a list of original songs and some Dead and Meters songs we very much sounded like a band that knew there way around the music. O’ did I say that we listened really good and played off of each other like we had done it again and again. That was great, OK’ the band Joe Marcinek//Alan Evans//Wil Blades//and Myself. Here is what we played.
