On The Rise: Maureen Murphy

I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of amazing and talented people over the past nearly ten years I have been in the workforce, but as far as musical talent goes, none of them can hold a candle to my friend and colleague here in Nashville, Maureen Murphy. I first met Maureen when I began working with her in hospitality and tourism here in the Music City last summer, and while she and I share the same day job, her contributions to the local music scene in town are setting the stage for a true star on the rise.

MM3Hailing from Massachusetts and now calling Nashville home, Maureen studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, and from then on, her work in the local industry has been steadily increasing. She is known in Nashville in particular for her work with local favorites Seygo, and just last week, I had the pleasure to attend her first solo show at The Basement here in town, with a dozen of my fellow coworkers joining in to support our own rising talent’s debut on her own.

MM6With a voice comparable to greats such as Amy Winehouse and Adele, I am certain that it won’t be long before Nashville turns out yet another incredible talent to soon become known nationwide. Maureen has performed with several industry greats over her career, including Gregg Allman and Zac Brown, as well as being heard on the track “Fuego” by Phish below and performing “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?” for the BioShock soundtrack below:

Maureen has released a solo EP on iTunes as well entitled Won’t Wait Around, and it may be downloaded from the iTunes store for $2.97. Follow her on Facebook to keep track of her journey in the industry.
