Reunion: Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit

The legendary experimental jam band Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit have reunited for a 14-show summer tour of the U.S.

Formed by Hampton in 1988 and cutting their teeth in the Atlanta club scene, the original lineup also included Jimmy Herring, Jeff Sipe, Oteil Burbridge, Matt Mundy and Count M’Butu. They helped start the H.O.R.D.E. tour in 1992 with Phish, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Bela Fleck and The Flecktones, and Widespread Panic. The group’s lineup has changed over the years as each of the members moved on to other projects. They’ve been major players in legendary bands that include Leftover Salmon, Susan Tedeschi Band, Phil Lesh & Friends, Trey Anastasio Band, Keller Williams’ WMDS, The Allman Brothers Band, Vida Blue, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Frogwings, just to name a few. They finally broke up in 1997, then reunited again from 2004-2007. The 2015 reunion includes original members Hampton, Herring, Sipe, and Burbridge along with Matt Slocum on keyboards.
