Weiland battled substance abuse throughout his career, finally putting an end to his “Interstate Love Song.” In a genre where some bands were hard to distinguish, his deep voice stood out. Social networks are awash with laments and tributes.

Weiland was 48 years old. To quote the late singer, “Addiction sucks.”
