The New Mastersounds’ Music is “Made For Pleasure”

nms titleThe first time you hear The New Mastersounds, you would swear you had just stepped out of a time machine and into 1970s New Orleans, or Memphis, or Muscle Shoals. This quartet from Leeds delivers magnificent funk, soul, jazz and much more. And the boys — Eddie Roberts, guitar; Simon Allen, drums; Pete Shand, bass guitar; and Joe Tatton, organ and piano, will be “covering the waterfront” — both waterfronts, actually, and everything in between, from New Year’s Eve through February.

Eddie Roberts is still the leading contender for hippest-looking cat on the scene, and he and Simon Allen could do stand-up comedy in addition to their musical gig. The band is in constant demand, and it’s obvious once you’ve heard them.
