West African Rhythms from Asheville to Florida Courtesy of Toubab Krewe

Asheville’s phenomenal Toubab Krewe have three dates coming up in Florida plus a post-Thanksgiving show at home. The quintet plays Jacksonville Wednesday (November 8th), Gainesville on Thursday, Tallahassee Friday, and Tampa on Saturday.

The band lists world, rock, and West African are their genre, but they also throw in plenty of eclectic surf rock, blues and more. Their studies in Mali are immediately evident when you hear them on stage.

Toubab Krewe are: Drew Heller, guitar, piano; Justin Perkins, Kora, Kamelngoni, guitar, percussion; Luke Quaranta, Djembe, congas, percussion; Terrence Houston, drums; and Justin Kimmel, bass, guitar.

The last time we saw Toubab Krewe in Tampa was a Crowbar show in February of 2014. Luke Quaranta has been back more recently with Pirate’s Choice at Hometeam New Year’s Rally 2015.
