Southern Avenue

Soul, Blues, and Funk fans rejoice, for Southern Avenue is going to rock your socks off and have you dancing until morning. Seriously, this young band from Memphis can groove. Led by the vocal beltings of Tierinii Jackson, whose dancing is only outclassed by her vocal range, Southern Avenue is a band to watch in the coming years. If they stay the course, they are a band that has the potential to take the jam scene by storm and carry it to a new generation. With Ori Naftaly on guitar, Daniel McKee on bass, Jeremy Powell on keyboards, and sister Tikyra Jackson on the drums, the band is packed with talent from across the globe. If this sounds interesting to you, be sure to check these guys out this year, otherwise I guarantee that you will regret it when looking back at this lineup in a few years.

The one-person band has a new name, and it is Tash Sultana. Give her a loop pedal, a Stratocaster, and her synth setup, and Tash will make your jaw drop. Honing her skills busking on the streets of Melbourne, Australia, Sultana is a self-taught musician, according to an interview with WGHB Music. In that same interview she shares that she could never go back to that lifestyle, saying that towards the end people were getting a little unsafe and following her around. Videos of Sultana’s busking have been making their way around social media in the past week or so, and if you loved any of that you really owe it to yourself to check out her live show this summer on The Farm. Check out her show playing at Boston’s The Paradise, below.
