MFN Artist Spotlight: Brasstracks

Horns, synths, drums, and a whole lotta love — these are the things that make up the Grammy award-winning jazz duo Brasstracks.

Producers Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne began Brasstracks as a side project while the two were attending the Manhattan School of Music back in 2014. With Ivan on trumpet and Conor in charge of drums, the two found a way to incorporate their respective instruments into creating songs they were passionate about. Over the past few years, this improvisational partnership has led them to release an array of critically acclaimed covers which include their dancey rendition of Rihanna’s “Four Five Seconds,” and R. Kelly’s throwback single, “Ignition.” In addition to this, the duo has been cranking out some original work as well, with the most recent being their latest EP, titled For Those Who Know: Part I.

For Those Who Know is a wonderfully crafted, six-track project that reels you in on a journey filled with uplifting jazz horns, romance, and aspirations.

For Those Who Know is the first time we’ve felt comfortable in our own skin making a project,” Brasstracks stated previously to Billboard Magazine. “It’s a confessional. It’s a coming of maturity. It’s an ode to New York City. In Pt. 1, you get to know our roots. We poured our hearts into this; we hope you dig it.”

To help celebrate the release, Brasstracks is also embarking on their first headlining tour beginning this Friday, March 16th, starting in their home base of NYC.

If you don’t know, then now you know.
