Roosevelt Collier and Unlimited Devotion Play the Grateful Dead
Roosevelt Collier is a master of many genres: sacred steel, funk, rock, and even bluegrass. He is a founding member of The Lee Boys and currently plays with Bokanté in addition to his own trio. He is joining forces before and after Thanksgiving with Unlimited Devotion, playing the music of the Grateful Dead.
Unlimited Devotion has developed a devoted fan following and a reputation as one of the America’s most popular Grateful Dead-inspired musical ensembles with a reputation for improvisation at its finest. Unlimited Devotion provides their own interpretation of the Grateful Dead songbook with strong jazz and funk influences.
Uunlimited Devotion are: Dan DeGregory, drums and lead vocals; Joe Falconeri, bass; TJ Glowacki, bass; Darryl ‘Funky D’ Quesenberry, keyboards and vocals; John Zias, lead guitar & vocals; Al Zilinsky, rhythm guitar & vocals.
These eight Florida dates all promise to be monsters. Of special note are three of these dates. The Tuesday, November 27th, show at the Miami Beach JCC will first feature Between the Dark and Light: The Grateful Dead Photography of Jay Blakesberg. This is a slideshow/storytelling presentation about Blakesberg’s 40-year journey photographing the Grateful Dead.
There’s a Block Party at Rok Bar in Daytona Beach on Friday, November 30th, with Collier and Unlimited Devotion joined by three more excellent guitar-slingers: Dennis Stadelman (CopE, Sonic Stew), Savi Fernandez, and Beartoe. Also performing will be drummer Chris Richard, violinist Jesse James, and hip hop artist Def B.
The show the next night (Saturday, December 1st) to close the tour at the Ringside Cafe in St. Petersburg is the moe. after-party; moe. plays the adjacent Jannus Live at 8 PM.
Time to “beat it on down the line” to one of these shows. You’ll be “on the road to” — well, you know!
