Time for Melted Faces, Blown Minds at Brainquility Music & Arts Festival

Looking to do the Vulcan mind meld with a bunch of like-minded individuals while getting your faces melted and your minds blown? Have we got just the place for you! Throw all that camping stuff into the car and head to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park this Saturday and Sunday (February 15-16) in Live Oak, Florida, for the second annual Brainquility Music & Arts Festival.

Opiuo

It was clear that last year’s location in Safety Harbor was idyllic but too small for a festival destined to grow, thus the move to SoSMP. On Tap Music have two full days of music on two stages close to each other, so you don’t have to miss a note (plus the Art Stage for the Silent Disco schedule). For those familiar with the park, the main stage is the Amphitheater, and they will also use Uncle Charlie’s Porch Stage at the top of the hill by the vendors. The schedule is full of EDM, livetronica, rock, and funk with some of the biggest names in the business.

Lotus

SATURDAY

Opiuo was just rocking the park in October at Suwannee Hulaween and return as Saturday’s headliners. BoomBox, SIDE TRAKD, and Dan Fester Plays with Himself are also on the main stage, along with three of SoSMP’s favorites: Roosevelt Collier, Zach Deputy, and The Heavy Pets.

The Porch Stage boasts Russ Liquid, Flamingosis, Govinda, Space Kadet, and Bells and Robes. Flamingosis was also at Hulaween, and Space Kadet have a brand new release out.

SUNDAY

Lotus is also a park favorite and will headline Sunday’s jammed lineup, with a second round from both BoomBox and SIDE TRAKD. El Dub and The Headtones are also on the main stage. lespecial gets the Porch Stage started, and Chachuba closes it down. In between, you’ll get a real treat with Octave Cat, a collaboration with Jesse Miller of Lotus, Eli Winderman of Dopapod, and Charlie Patierno.

SILENT DISCO

Music ends early due to a local Sunday noise ordinance, except it doesn’t, because Silent Disco rides to the rescue. Silent Disco runs both nights at the Art Stage up at Spirit Lake. Saturday, you’ll get a full band performance from Chachuba, and then the two-channel battles, first Charlie Hustle vs. Nate Verde, then Space Kadet DJ set vs. SIDE TRAKD. Sunday, first up LZRKMMNDR vs. Dustan Wallace, then Bells & Robes vs. Drewlface, next Dymonds vs. JustJovani, and finally SIDE TRAKD vs. Dillon Rose.

There’s a great yoga schedule, and you’ll find aerialists and great live art, including the amazing Because of the Lotus. And check out the Brainquility pre-party Thursday night (February 13) in Jacksonville at Nighthawks with lespecial, SIDE TRAKD, and Drewlface.

It’s a small festival with huge talent at the happiest place on earth (it’s NOT that place in Kissimmee!). Jump on it!
