Russ Liquid, Bells and Robes Heat Up Florida (Even More)

Tonight (Thursday, May 9) begins a very special four-date Florida tour pairing Russ Liquid with Bells and Robes, with stops at Strikerz in Pensacola, Gainesville’s great new club Signal, the venerable 1904 Music Hall in Jacksonville, and Dunedin Brewery (Sunday, May 12).

Russ Liquid melds pure funk with electronica for an eclectic mix. Actually, make that Eclectric. That’s the name of the new album by the New Orleans-multi-instrumentalist Russell Scott. He was classically trained on the piano, trumpet, saxophone and flute and inserts his improv-driven musicality into the live electronic world he has adopted. He delights in releasing new music often and creates a joyful sense of synergy in his high-powered live shows. “I want to make people feel good but also give them something to reflect with,” the talented producer assures, “It’s not about just making party music or music that’s more introspective—it’s for the full gamut of human expression, and we want it to be just as dynamic as life itself.”

BELLS AND ROBES

Bells and Robes’ live set features Luke Sipka on keys and synths and Dean Spaniol on drums. They combine self-produced backing tracks with live improvisation for a deluxe sonic experience. Now based out of Atlanta, the duo have been honing their craft for years and have delighted audiences everywhere they go with their fresh take on livetronica, employing synth soundscapes, hip hop drums, and jazz harmonics. Their catalog offered several EPs, but they have just released their first full-length album titled House of Mirrors, a “concept album set in a futuristic western world. It begins with a great battle and follows the descent of Edvardo as he struggles with his inner demons.”
