Wu-Tang Clan to Replace Die Antwoord at Riot Fest

Earlier this month, footage of an altercation involving Die Antwoord and Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair was leaked. The video, almost eight minutes long, was shot by the band’s former videographer, Ben Crossman, at the 2012 Future Music Festival in Adelaide, Australia. It shows Ninja and Yolandi harassing Butler by spitting on him and calling out homophobic slurs. As Butler runs away, Yolandi yells, “Run faggot, run. Run for your life, bitch.” Die Antwoord then talk to festival employees and fake a claim that Butler sexually harassed Yolandi.

Since the video first appeared on August 4, Die Antwoord have been dropped from the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, Kentucky, and, the Life Is Beautiful Music & Art Festival in Las Vegas, and now Riot Fest in Chicago has officially dropped the duo, too.

This morning, Riot Fest organizers announced that the legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan will replace Die Antwoord’s Saturday slot. Wu previously performed at Riot Fest back in 2017, where they played a full-album performance of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
