Produced by Highlands Festivals, Inc. and Eleven Events, the family-friendly festival  is named for the bear-like shadow that appears behind the region’s Whiteside Mountain each fall and spring. Bear Shadow takes place in the serene environs of the Highlands/Cashiers Plateau in the northwestern corner of North Carolina’s mountains where attendees can engage in numerous outdoor activities like hiking, fly-fishing, mountain biking, and kayaking and canoeing the area’s lakes and rivers and more. Fans can also explore the quaint village of nearby Highlands, a popular mountain destination for southerners escaping the region’s heat for over a century.
