Dave Watts, Scott Messersmith & the Music of the Isleys

Dave Watts annually gathers a boatload of amazing musicians to celebrate his birthday on stage. Watts and Scott Messersmith will do the do this year at Cervantes’ Other Side on January 27, with Kory Montgomery Band opening.

Watts and Messersmith founded The Motet in 1998. Drummer Watts still leads this amazing funk collective; Messersmith played percussion along side Watts through 2011. Check out this band they’ve assembled:

Kim Dawson, vocals (Matador! Soul Sounds)

Lyle Divinsky, vocals (formerly with The Motet)

D.J. Williams, guitar, vocals
(D.J. Williams’ Shots Fired, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe)

Adam Smirnoff, guitar (Lettuce)

Joey Porter, keyboards, synths (The Motet)

Garrett Sayers, bass (The Motet)

Wait! Did we mention the evening’s program?
