The Earl Scruggs Music Festival lineup is released

For its third year, the festival honoring Earl Scruggs has a dynamite lineup over Labor Day weekend,  August 30-September 1. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Mill Spring, NC, the beautiful Tryon Equestrian Center provides a perfect setting for the festival. The headliners this year will be “Delta Dawn” hitmaker Tanya Tucker, seminal string band Old Crow Medicine Show, country and bluegrass mainstay Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, Colorado jamgrass ensemble Yonder Mountain String Band,  plus  returning hosts Jerry Douglas and The Earls of Leicester and first-time guests The Steeldrivers, Mighty Poplar, Lindsay Lou, Miko Marks, and nearly a dozen others.

Among the supporting cast are some of my personal favorite bands, including AJ Lee and Blue Summit, the Steeldrivers, Darrell Scott, and the supergroup Mighty Poplar.

The festival was established in partnership with WNCW 88.7 at Isothermal Community College, and the Earl Scruggs Center in Shelby, NC. With a goal of maintaining the legacy of the impact that Earl had on American culture, including both traditional and progressive roots music.  Advance-price tickets are currently on sale, with a variety of General Admission and VIP packages available. VIP ticket packages include reserved seating in VIP-exclusive indoor and outdoor spaces, exclusive merchandise items, complimentary refreshments, and more. On-site camping and cabin rentals are also available for reservation via the festival website.
