Widespread Panic and Fans Take Charleston

Widespread Panic and its Home Team Army of followers returned to the Port City of Charleston SC for two blistering shows, and the bust-outs continued in the low country. Charleston was the perfect stop, with pre- and post-parties and, of course, the beaches, fine dining, and beautiful cultural offerings. The Widespread Panic brigade were ready for the hot and humid temperatures and the following two nights that would reward all who came to the Credit One Stadium.

FRIDAY, MAY 16

Day one start time 7:20

“Wondering” into “Weak Brain Narrow Mind” got the music flowing, and the clay court floor of the tennis stadium was packed as everyone was settling in. “Little by Little > Up All Night > C. Brown” got thing really moving, but then “Sleeping Man” as Dave Schools took the energy to new levels with his intense vocals and slick dance moves, boogieing down with everyone. That lengthy rendition took us into “Good Morning Little School Girl” (LTP Milwaukee 2023), with John Bell giving us a little twist on the lyrics… leading to “Old Neighborhood” and ending set one with an ever-so-hard “Love Tractor” tempo to end set one.

Set 2

“Sparks Fly” (LTP 2003 1148 shows since played and only 5 times before) into “Heny Parsons Died > Tackle Box Hero” into a long, trippy “Second Skin > Going Out West,” the energy increasing tenfold throughout leading into “Pilgrims” and then a late-night sandwich “Driving Song > Bowlegged Woman > Driving Song” and set-ender “St. Ex”… many claimed best one ever.

JoJo Hermann got us going with “Blackout Blues,” this set kept getting hotter and hotter with “You Got Yours > Sharon,” and the same ole rowdy crowd was back again as Dave Schools pointed and said, “THAT’S YOU!” “King Baby > Airplane > Action Man > Gimme” into more Jojo and “Ride Me High > Papa’s Home > Dear Mr. Fantasy” (I’m So Glad tease) > “Papa’s Home” and a set-ending “I’m So Glad” … damn fire!!
