Victoria Cardona’s Debut Album – Que Pasó
The conventional wisdom says that, if somehow Florida got cut off from the rest of the world, we would be just fine… in terms of music. There are thousands of wonderful bands and musicians creating exceptional music on a daily basis [by the way, that is the also answer to nay-sayers who claim there’s been no good music created since the ’60s and ’70s].
Around the Sunshine State, amongst all of the great musicians, there are some truly exceptional players, often unsung heroes in this era of big flash and media overload. Victoria Cardona belongs in this category, a Cuban American singer/songwriter, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist. She performs almost daily up and down the east coast, primarily from Jupiter north to Vero Beach, and she has played music festivals as well.

What makes Cardona exceptional? She is the very best looper I have ever heard, PERIOD. She plays acoustic and electric guitars, bass, piano, organ, steel drums, and all manner of percussion, and she combines those into a delicious amalgam on stage, glued together by her wonderful vocals.
Last December, Cardona shared this announcement:

Que Pasó will be issued next Friday, June 27. For the first time, we will hear Cardona backed by a superb band of musicians rather than by ten other Victoria Cardonas! The album features eight of her compositions and three wonderful cover tunes, including the Lowell George standard “Spanish Moon.”

We will have a full review ready for Monday. In the meantime, enjoy the first single from the album, “Que Pasó En La Habana,” and her loop recording of the song from last year. We’ve also included a loop version of “Spanish Moon” in anticipation of June 27!
