The Suwannee Hulaween Dailies: Notes and Comments
We are streaking forward toward Suwannee Hulaween (some of us are impatient), scheduled at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park October 30 through November 2, and having the daily lineups seems to bring it even closer (yes, impatient). Itโs likely you know the headliners. We wanted to point out some of the great names on the undercard. We apologize in advance; we are of no help on the EDM acts on the schedule.

The Infamous Stringdusters featuring Sierra Hull will be outstanding way to start Hula โ25, and weโll get double our pleasure with two sets of moe.

Four of the Sunshine Stateโs best are also on tap Thursday, including superb progressive jazz trio Anemoia; wonderful joyous duo Future Joy (Florida and Colorado share them); remarkable Sooza Brass Band, a superb way to kick off a festival (CAN CONFIRM); and master jammers The Heavy Pets, Spirit of the Suwannee regulars. Add to those Bloomington boys Dizgo, raging with their psychedelic funky jamtronica.

Those firmly in the The Disco Biscuits camp are rejoicing their two sets plus TRACTORBEAM! For those unfamiliar, weโre borrowing Josh Rhein-Davis’ description again: “tractorbeam is literally the biscuits, just more untzy. Brownie sets down his bass for keys and midi controllers.โ BOOM! Digable Planets are 32 years into their amazing career in jazz-informed hip hop.

Fans will be Flocking to see those Pigeons Playing Ping Pong from Baltimore. Colorado is sending Sunsquabi, the brilliant prog-tronica trio. And monster bass player Brad Miller will be there as well; some of you may have seen him in various jazz fusion settings, most specially with PYTHON,ย the incredible band with Adam Deitch, Benny Bloom, and BIGYUKI.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1

The big buzz is for Parcels, for sure. We are delighted to see Franc Moody back for more great funk and roll. Weโve only seen videos of Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge to date and are prepared to immerse ourselves completely in their vibes. Miamiโs deluxe duo Afrobeta returns to the park, as do The Snozzberries, bringing their psych-prog fusion from Asheville.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2

Sunday is a lighter day. Weโve survived three big ones. Never, ever miss Molly Tuttle, out on her new adventure, and be sure to check out the superb Susto String Band, a unique partnerhip between Americana stalwartย Justin Osborneโsย Sustoย and Ashevilleโsย Holler Choir.
