Melody Trucks & The Fitzkee Brothers: making magic happen!

Melody Trucks is equal parts musician, educator, roots revivalist, and wonderful friend. Her father, the late Butch Trucks, founded The Allman Brothers Band, the Wanee Festival, the Peach Festival, The Freight Train Band, and Roots Rock Revival. Melody and brother Vaylor have inherited all of that with great pride and determination to further Butch’s legacy.

The education portion of the program came into vivid highlight when Melody crossed paths with The Fitzkee Brothers, two wonderful spirits who were teens at the time. Drummer Alex Fitzkee is now 19, and bassist Drew Fitzkee has reached the ripe old age of 21. With the outstanding assist of their remarkable parents, Melody and the Fitzkees have been making beautiful music together ever since — sometimes together, sometimes separately.

With that in mind, let’s glance at their upcoming schedules through September.

The Fitzkees headline Monkton Music Festival in Monkton MD May 9. Melody, The Fitzkees, and friend Joe Marcinek next hit Boogie on the Bay in Burgess VA. Then Melody and The Fitzkees kick off eight dates on their Allman Brothers Tribute run, including a stop at Florida Folk Festival.

They will join the Live Dead and the Brothers tour for six shows. That group also features heavyweights Berry Duane Oakley, Mark Karan, Scott Guberman, and Pete Lavezzoli. The ABB tribute tour on August 25 includes Vaylor Trucks, Peter Levin, Lamar Williams Jr., Will Bart, and Yattie Westfield.

Melody and The Fizkees will join the Artimus Pyle Band for a show and also perform at June Lake Jam Fest with Joe Marcinek and at Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival.

The Fitzkees also have festival dates scheduled for Harmony Woods Music Fest, Great Blue Heron Music Festival, and the amazing Hot August Music Festival!
