Troy Youngblood’s Year of the Horse tour, including Skull & Bone Band plus Soulfish

Two decades ago, a kickass rock & roll band exploded out of Pegasus Lounge and similar venues in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Skull and Bone Band developed a dedicated fanbase, rocking out here, there, and everywhere. The band included Troy Youngblood, guitar; Chris Brown, bass; Jeramy Martin, guitar; and Mountain Mike Schuman, drums. Everybody sang.  Since the band’s in 2017, Roy Kelich, guitar, has been a constant presence on all the reunions.

Youngblood also put together another multifaceted band, known as Troy Youngblood and the Soulfish. Matt Salvador was on drums. Everybody sang. “Soulfish didn’t really get going until Reggie Scott (drums) and Chris MF’n Brown joined in to solidify the rhythm section. George Pennington was pretty much in the Soulfish since near the beginning.” The group also included Al Farr, keyboards and vocals; Bob Feckner, trumpet, and Dennis Stadelman, guitar and vocals.

There was a brief offshoot called Ghost Country Revival which was Troy, Jeramy, Mountain Mike Schuman, and bass player Jen Sladki.

That all came to an end when Youngblood and family moved to Maine in 2017. He did return for a performance at Orange Blossom Jamboree in 2019 and several other flashback shows.

Now Youngblood is on his Year of the Horse tour, beginning with a performance May 6 on Crooked Road Radio Show in Bristol, a gig at Good Times in Big Stone Gap, and a pair of nights at The Mad Hatter Cafe in Spruce Pine.

Then come the two reunion shows at familiar Youngblood venues, May 15 at The Hub in Tampa and May 16 at The Blueberry Patch in Gulfport. They’re getting the band back together — as many of these miscreants as possible!

After a couple days to recover, Youngblood will return to The Mad Hatter Cafe for two more dates before heading back to his glorious family in Maine.
