Firefly Music Festival Fans: Get Ready, Get Psyched, Go! The 2017 Lineup Has Landed

This year, Firefly Music Festival decided to do something different. They gave fans the opportunity to have a say in all of this year’s Firefly happenings. Bands, themes, food, camping, it was all voted on by those who chose to participate. Well, the polls have closed, the people have spoken, and ladies and gentlemen… we have our lineup!

June 15-18th will mark the 6th annual Firefly Music Festival. Music fans will converge on The Woodlands at Dover International Speedway for another weekend of sun, sound and good vibes. We are all yearning for summer at this point, especially if you live in an area that’s been viciously assaulted by winter lately. Just take a moment to imagine yourself sprawled out in an open grassy field, soaking it all in. Or, you can revel in the shade under one the Woodland’s many trees. If you’re lucky enough to snag a coveted hammock in the Nook (formerly known as the Hammock Hangout), you’ve pretty much made it to Firefly nirvana.

Once the sun goes down, the whole place is glowing. The trees are beaming with strings of lights and lanterns. Each night as the time for headlining performances grows near, the excitement becomes palpable. That will surely be the case this year with another wide range of great headliners on the bill from Muse and Chance the Rapper to The Weeknd and Twenty One Pilots. I could’ve cried when I reached Bob Dylan’s name.

It was a pleasant surprise to see Weezer, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Franz Ferdinand and AFI on the lineup. There will be no shortage of late-night dancing with the likes of Flume, Dillon Francis, Gryffin and The White Panda. Of course, in typical Firefly fashion, a few well-known pop acts made the cut, including Kesha, T-Pain and Daya.

From big names to slightly smaller ones, there are remarkable, do-not-miss artists all over this lineup! Newcomers and lesser known acts always end up being one of my favorite parts of any festival. Discovering music is just as thrilling as seeing your favorite bands live. We can’t wait to check out Brooklyn newcomers Sunflower Bean, the funky six-piece Spiritual Rez, and electo-pop-rock duo Savoir Adore.

Firefly makes it especially charming to watch smaller shows. The Coffee House Stage is incredibly intimate. Sip an iced coffee, a latte or just stick with a beer, and check out the artists up close and personal. Watching a band play at The Treehouse Stage is like entering an imaginary world. This tree-covered cozy alcove is an idyllic spot, and every performance here feels exclusive.

If you’re still making up your mind on whether or not you’ll be calling The Woodlands home for a few days this June, maybe we can give you a push in the right direction. Check out our Firefly 2016 throwback playlist and the recap videos below, and then let us know if you’ve made up your mind. Tickets go onsale today at 1 PM EST! Grab yours here.
