Béla Fleck & The Flecktones Trio Announce 2018 Dates

Recently launching as a trio, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones Trio have announced several tour dates for 2018.

The band itself comprises the massive talent of Béla Fleck, Victor Wooten and Roy “Futureman” Wooten. All three of these musicians have at various times been considered as the leading individuals on their instruments.

Béla Fleck has often been called the world’s leading banjo player. Certainly he has defied and defined the instrument in the eyes of many, going all the way back to 1979 when he released his first solo album Crossing The Tracks, which was chosen Best Overall Album by Frets Magazine. He toured and recorded throughout the ’80s until finally teaming up with the Wooten brothers and Howard Levy to form Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, and an already successful career reached new heights and new fans. The band blended jazz, bluegrass, fusion and jam into a  unique sound that saw them tour and hit festivals all over the country.

Most chances to see this lineup these days are large festivals such as Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass Fest, New Orleans Jazz Fest, and Austin City Limits. Three of these upcoming dates will be a great opportunity to see this legendary lineup in a smaller setting, and there is one good festival setting on the last date.

There are plans to reemerge as a quartet with Levy in June and July. Stay tuned for more.
