Find Out Why They Call the Donna Hopkins Band ‘Gov’t Hopkins’ (They’re Not Wrong)

Whether you are in her home of Georgia or in Florida or, on this tour, Asheville and Knoxville, you need to check out The Donna Hopkins Band. If you’ve already seen her, then you know. I don’t need to convince you.

Full disclosure (as I always point out): Donna Hopkins is no relation to me. Except as a wonderful musical sister. Hopkins hails from Atlanta, where she tears it up regularly. Her trio plays hard rock ’n’ roots and plenty of blues. Drummer Richie Jones calls the band Gov’t Hopkins; that is entirely accurate. She is a superb singer as well.

Tonight’s show in Sandy Springs features Indiana fugitive Joe Marcinek; he will join her on Monday as well in Tucker. After these four Georgia shows, Hopkins and Co. head to Florida for a great trio of shows, including the first day of the Great Outdoors Jam plus dates at Dunedin Brewery and de Bine Brewing.

Gov’t Hopkins.

You know you’re intrigued. Time to find out for yourself.
