Time to Fill Up on JOOSE at Album Fundraiser Sunday in St. Petersburg

We’ve been waiting for this for a loooong time. Well, it seems that way. Ever since JOOSE emerged from a superb jazz fusion band into… seriously, this sextet has most of the bases covered at this point. they call it “cinematic jazz fusion.”

JOOSE

Perhaps it was last spring, when the original quintet added string-bender Justino Lee Walker (Justino and the Difference), or maybe it was at last year’s Orange Blossom Jamboree in May when JOOSE unveiled the first portions of their magnum opus. With each subsequent performance, they had completed more of the work, which we got to hear at Row Jomah’s album release party in September at Dunedin Brewery and at Great Outdoors Jam later that month.

Christian Ryan and Justino

JOOSE are: Christian Ryan, woodwinds; Mark Mayea, keyboards; Justino Lee Walker, guitars; Taylor Gilchrist, bass; Yral ‘datdudeondrums’ Morris; and Jimmy Rector, percussion. Mayea and Gilchrist also play with Ajeva, and they also play with Come Back Alice along with Morris and Rector. Ryan plays with at least a dozen bands in some capacity, most famously Holey Miss Holey, Leisure Chief, Bengali 600, and, well, you get the idea.

They released three tracks from the album in October on the EP Not from Concentrate, but the album has all 18! Hear many of those and more Sunday at the fundraiser! Read all about it on these links!
